In his Letter Concerning Toleration, John Locke proposes that if the goal of a condition is to improve a man as a person based on a subjective set of circumstances, then it is not virtuous. However, if the goal is to increase the man’s likelihood of achieving his civil interests his interest in life, freedom, and access to material goods then this conditionality may be virtuous” (89 90). When trying to help a population of which a large majority have previously battled drug addiction and alcoholism, a zero tolerance condition on drug and alcohol use would seem to logically increase a man’s likelihood of achieving his “civil interests” and thus this condition also may be virtuous.
Mo’ne Davis is out of the Little League World Series, leaving behind a perishing impression of a pitching arm like a lariat, and those alert tourmaline eyes. Now she will go back to taking penciled tests, as opposed to being recruited into social science conversations about gender and whether biology is destiny. Everyone wants to say something important about Davis, but what really needs to be said is this: As she returns to the dim, dull regular school day, may her experience as a Little Leaguer not be the pinnacle of her athletic life.

My personal experience, employers will monitor email when there is a business reason to do so, Reuben says. Example, if an employee accuses another employee of sending sexually harassing emails, the employer would naturally want, as part of its investigation, to review all of the email communications between the two employees. Adverse consequences are not uncommon.

I sleep most of the day there. A union laborer must be called in [perhaps from a mile away; that’s how huge this plant was] to move it physically [while the office personnel stood around waiting on the clock] and they must call me in, to unplug it before it is moved; and plug it back in after it moves [maybe 20 feet]. Then I go back to sleep.”.
